Q: What are they made of?
1. Denture - The false tooth / teeth are attached to either a plastic or metal base, the denture is removed for cleaning. This is a relatively simple way of replacing missing teeth.
2. Adhesive / Sticky Bridges - Adhesive bridges involve sticking restorations to teeth using special dental adhesives (see cosmetic treatment). Compared to conventional bridges this procedure requires very little preparation of the supporting tooth / teeth.
3. Conventional Bridges - Conventional bridges are made by crowning the teeth on either side of the gap and attaching a false tooth on the middle. These bridges are made from the same materials and fixed in the same way as crowns.
4. Implant - This is the gold standard of replacing missing teeth as it does not involve the remaining teeth and has the longest life span. The false tooth or teeth are attached to titanium screws which replace the roots of the missing teeth.
