How does it work?
A series of tiny muscle relaxing injections are given to the area requiring treatment. The active ingredient is Botulinum Toxin, which, when used in small doses, reversibly relaxes the muscles underneath the skin that produce lines and wrinkles.
By relaxing the muscles, the lines and wrinkles diminish significantly and in some cases disappear. There is evidence that repeated treatments produce a longer lasting effect. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.
Is it safe?
Although any procedure carries small risks, muscle relaxing injections are a very safe treatment in skilled hands.
Will I lose my facial expression?
The extent to which facial expression is affected will depend on where the muscle relaxant is injected and how much of the substance is used.
We will aim to achieve the result you desire ranging from complete smoothing, of, for example, the forehead, or partial reduction in muscle activity, which will smooth out the lines but allow residual forehead movements.
